Jimmy Harper, Wasagamack First Nation, follows the long tradition of artists from the Island Lake area of northern Manitoba. Jackson Beardy was the first Manitoba Aboriginal to establish a beachhead in the Woodlands tradition and is recognized as one of the “Second Group of Seven” which also includes Norval Morrisseau and Daphne Odjig. Jimmy was long associated with Jeff Monias and Eddy Monroe, also from Garden Hill
