From Cranberry-Portage in Northern Manitoba, Irvin Head came relatively later in his life to carving--=and he burst onto the scene when he was selected to carve the main carvings for the 202 Indigenous Games in Manitoba. Manitoba Hydro commissions him each year to provide carvings and Irvin has won the Northern Manitoba juried "People's Award".
His carvings are an extraordinary blend of the utmost creativity in working with stone and the techniques he has mastered to bring the stone alive.
